How long will it take to clean my carpets?

The average house takes about 2-2.5 hours, depending on the size of your home, the level of soiling involved and the extent of pre-treating required.

Do I need to vacuum before the clean?

No, our technicians will perform a pre-vacuum as part of the carpet cleaning process.

Do I need to remove my furniture from the carpet?

Yes, we ask that you move as much furniture as possible from the areas that are to be cleaned prior to the technician's arrival. Our technicians are always happy to move anything that is considered reasonable but due to OH&S are not allowed to move anything heavy or bulky. Large pieces of furniture that cannot be moved can be easily cleaned around.

Do you remove all the stains?

We aim to remove any stains caused by soiling or spills in our standard clean. Instances where a carpet may have been damaged like dye, water damage or pet urine stains may require advanced stain removal at an additional charge. The technician will consult you on this during the inspection.

Do I need to be at home when my carpet is cleaned?

We understand our clients' busy lifestyles. That's why Carpet Tech offers flexible scheduling, including Saturdays. It is helpful to meet our professional technicians when they arrive to discuss any specific needs or concerns before the job starts. However, it is not necessary for you to be home while your carpet is cleaned.

Can I clean my carpets myself?

Some homeowners may choose to clean their carpets and upholstery themselves. However, without proper training or familiarity with the different solutions and treatments available, results may not be as expected. Rental equipment does not always provide the most powerful, effective machines. Our technicians use only top quality, tried-and-true equipment, methods and solutions to ensure the best care for your carpet and upholstery.

How long will it take my carpet to dry completely?

Drying times vary depending on humidity levels, airflow, and the type of carpet involved. On average it takes 2-12 hours for a carpet to thoroughly dry. Opening windows and turning on your air conditioning or heating system helps speed up this process. You can walk on your carpet after two hours, though we recommend limiting activity on it until fully dry.

Can the cleaning agents used to clean my carpets harm my children or pets?

Carpet Tech uses only non-toxic products that are friendly both to the environment and your family. It is still a good idea to limit contact with a newly cleaned carpet until it is thoroughly dry.

Do I need to have my upholstered furniture cleaned professionally?

Up to 80 percent of the everyday dirt and dust carried into most homes can settle onto carpets and upholstered furniture. Professional cleaning helps prevent damage to the fabric and removes dust and allergens that can affect indoor air quality — especially important for those with asthma or allergies.

Can I wash my cushion covers in the washing machine?

Putting cushion covers in the washing machine can cause fading, shrinkage, and fabric deterioration. Carpet Tech can provide a much safer and healthier deep clean without causing damage to your furniture.

How often should I have my upholstery cleaned?

Most manufacturers recommend having upholstered furniture cleaned every 12-24 months, depending on how often it is used.

Which cleaning method is best for my upholstery?

Cleaning methods vary depending on the type of fabric used. Our technicians are highly trained in manufacturer recommendations and will examine the construction of your furniture and test the fabric to determine the most effective method.

How long will it take my furniture to dry?

Drying times vary depending on the cleaning method used, the optional application of fabric protector, humidity levels and air ventilation. If our hot-water extraction method is used, the average drying time is 4-8 hours.

What is it going to cost to have my home treated for water damage?

It is not possible to provide an upfront estimate, as every situation is unique. When you contact Carpet Tech, our technicians conduct an in-home inspection within one to five hours to assess how much water is involved, how many rooms are affected, and the extent of microbial damage.

Can I clean up flood and water damage myself?

It is best to have a professional clean up after water damage or flooding, as most at-home techniques like shop vacs cannot extract water to the extent needed to prevent secondary damage and microbial growth. Water can soak into carpet padding and create conditions for mould and mildew, which can become costly to fix if left untreated.

Can my carpet and padding be salvaged after water damage?

In many cases, when water is extracted immediately and thoroughly, carpets and padding can be saved. This depends on factors including the extent and cause of the flooding and the amount of time that passes before clean up begins. Contact Carpet Tech immediately if you experience flooding so our expert consultants can assess the damage.
